I’m thinking of playing as a hobby & eventually be good at it.
So, is it possible to have godlike skills without lessons
and just practice?

Elton attended the Royal Academy Of Music, but dropped out just before his finals. But otherwise Elton was self-taught at the piano.

I am auditioning for my high schoolchoir & i need to know how to sight sing & i am having so much trouble with it! i am using a piano to help me & im ok but when i try to sight sing at school in my choir & cannottt do it! any help???

I took classical piano lessons as a kid from age 5 to 14. Once I got into high school I convinced my mother I had too many other things going on, & that I absolutely hated playing the piano. So I quit, & never looked back.
Until now. I’m 22, & dying to get back into the piano. I don’t think I’ve lost all of the skills I had, but once I put my hands back on the keys it feels very foreign.
Where do I start?

How much do you need to know. Just basic skills, or should you be able to play amazing pieces of music?
My primary instrument would be French Horn, which I am decent at..

Don’t you find that it’s hard to make the transation from playing the organ to playing the piano? Any tips/advice to pick up on my piano skills coming from an organ background where most of the time, you play chords???

even if it’s irrelevant, would it have an effect? for example, i have a grade 8 royale piano degree trying to get into a computer science degree, would it help my case having the this certificate?

It just occurred to me that my two friends (both are really accurate & fast at typing on the computer) play the piano. Could this be why their typing skills are so good, accurate & fast?

I just had my last piano recital so I have a lot of free time with the piano & without a teacher to help me pick something out I’m having a hard time choosing what piece to play. I have been playing for almost 10 years so I’d say I have a fairly high skill level. Anything classical, modern, or anything you love to play!

I want to be able to play some songs. I own a stand up grand piano. What exactly do I have to learn chords, notes, melody, skill? Where can I get resources to learn internet, books? I don’t want to play mozart or something I just want to play average songs & I would also like to make them at some point.

I think getting a private teacher is out of the question for the time being, due to financial reasons.
Does anyone know any good websites, videos, or DVDs/books I can buy to improve my piano skills the quickest. If you are not familiar with any, maybe just some practicing tips??

Well theres this person who shows off about her piano skills. I play piano too & i play 1000 miles by vanessa carlton. I stupidly traught her & now she plays it in front of her friends & they go oh ur so good. IM JELOUS! it was me me eme ememememememe any way so. I need a good like song that people know like taylor swift ( i no that already) one that looks tricky but is easy. I like playing off you tube like the piano teacher on you tube. Ive leart lots. I want to refresh my piano-playing skills but don’t currently have the space to get one myself. Are there ones available for public practice use?

Or a choke if the person who is trying to do this is bigger than you would wearing polo shirts help?

I have been given a piece of sheet music, & am trying to learn it tonight (vocal). I would *like* to double check myself on the piano but I do not trust my piano skills & can’t find any web sites that will allow me to fill in the key signature & notes to have them play back to me. Anybody have anything?
I can’t download anything to my computer, either, or scan the music.

well I was okay at piano. I never liked it very much because my parents made me play it & I didnt appreciate it at all when I was little so I goofed around.
Last year, my teacher finally made me see how much I really loved piano & I wanted to be better. So last summer, I came to be the best that I had ever been.
This summer, I moved & my parents got divorced so I stopped taking lessons. I still have piano/sheet music but I feel myself getting worse & worse… also I had a 3-month lapse because my piano got lost in the shipment
So how can I at least mantain my piano skills? I don’t want to lose them…

I love the result of playing a super advanced piano piece & many people know my for my piano skills. i am 15 yrs old & have a caring personality. i haven’t every had a girlfriend & i kinda want one. I’ve had my eye on someone in my school for a while now but i don’t know how to go about it. im not exactly attractive but im kinda smart. i want to learn a piano piece that impresses people & is fast moving.
So far i have learned the whole moonlight sonata ( Beethoven ) & the Fantasie impromptu by chopin, (i got really good in a piano compitition for this piece) i learned chopin etude no.9 & a few more random pieces.
im working on this Rachmaninoff prelude No. 5 in g minor, is this a good piece to impress people & impress this girl that i like?
or should i learn some more stuff? what should i learn that is beautiful?
i want to play some of these piano pieces for this girl but i dont know how to go about it, it’s just that we are kinda immature & stuff.
