Piano Answers

Hi, i just started joining the world of piano tech, my father was one & i am following his footsteps, he teaches me the basic of tuning repairing & such, but my tuning isnt that good, one of the problem is that when i turn according to the scoop i can make the pitch of the string neutral but after i hit the piano key for a few time the pitch will lower & lower, i use the hammer to pull the pitch higher again & then repeatedly hitting the piano key & the pitch still will lower… Then i go check the part that my dad tuned & i hit the key more then 20 times but the pitch wont drop my dad says that i need to turn the pin so that it wont move but how am i suppose to make the pin stay still?????

ok ive always wanted to play piano but my main but hold backs are that
1. im left handed
2. i have limited finger movements in my right arm
any1 have any tips on how to overcome this ?

I play piano, but i dont get to very often so, my skills are decreasing. i just wanted to know if anyone had any advise on good techniques or something i can do to get my playing ability back up.

I’m 15, & I’m playing the first movement of Saint-Saëns’ second piano concerto with an orchestra tomorrow night. The 1000+ seat auditorium is completely sold out…and I’m starting to get a little nervous.
The thing I’m most nevous about is BEING nervous. I get shaky when I’m nervous, & I’m afraid that happens, making it harder to play.
Also, how do I deal with cold hands?
Any other suggestions for performing a
concerto (about stage presence, relaxing, feeling
confident, or anything else) would be appreciated so much!

I really like playing the piano but I REALLY suck at playing with both of my hands. I can play the flute just fine but i need some help with this. I NEED trick and/or tips for helping me play with both of my hands.

I would say that im pretty good as of right now, but i would like some tips on how to approach reading it.Like is it best to try & learn both hands at once & what not

Hi i had a piano concert where i would be judge on & i played my pice for my teacher earlier that week & the teacher said that i would nail it at the concert because i knew it so well & perfectly & then when i played for the judge at the concert i meesed up very badly & when i was done my hands were trembling. what can i do to not get so nervous when i perfom in fornt of someone?

I am fixing up & old upright piano (70 years old) that has very nice walnut burl veneer on it. There are several areas where large chips are taken out of it. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to patch them? Can I score the old veneer with a razor knife, heat it, & pry it off with a wood chisel? I have several sheets of walnut burl veneer I can use to make new pieces. Thanks!

I learned some piano a few months ago so I am a bit rusty. I seem to have caught up to where I left off but stuck at trying to play with both hands doing different things at the same time. Mainly trying to finish off the song “Morning Rememberance” from the Bleach Anime. Anyone have any ideas on any little tricks I can practice with so I can get the hands down pact?

Do you have any tips on how to write a good one?
How long does it usually take (about a line or 2)?

Hey all I’m 19 years old & in my 3rd semester at my local community college. I’m half way through my associates in liberal arts & my GPA will be above a 3.5 when I graduate. I’ve been in many clubs & became an officer for one of them. Also I gained a $1,000 scholarship for tuition there. This is all to make up for my poor SAT score that I got when I finished high school.
I plan on going to SUNY Stony Brook. I plan on getting a bachelor’s in respiratory therapy. Also I will become certified to become a personal trainer. After I graduate I might become affiliated with the US Air Force for a few years. (I like the atmosphere on air bases. The large open space. I went to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware with my uncle a few years ago. Air bases are awesome!)
From here maybe I’ll either go into a more military career or a strictly health care and/or fitness back up career.
Just wondering if any one out there has some advice or tips on my decision making.
My hobbies:
-playing classical piano (mainly Chopin’s nocturnes)
-motorcycles (Buying my first bike,+gear&insurance, I saved up for next spring. Will be a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R)
-I want to learn how to fly a plan

I can read sheet music pretty well. I sometimes want to play a song, but can’t find the sheet music on the internet. I think it would be alot easier to play by ear then searching the internet for music. Do you have any tips for playing piano by ear?
