First Time Piano Buyer For 7 Yr Old Daughter To Learn How To Play Piano?
I am looking for a used piano on Craigslist. I am not looking to spend a lot of money, but just want a descent piano that will last. Should I get a Spinet, Console, Upright, I don’t know there are so many. A guy is selling a Winter 1960 Spinet for $250, but I keep reading that they have problems & the difficult to tune. What should I be looking for in terms of brand, type, make. I know once the piano is moved to my home, if I buy it, it will need to be tuned. The Spinets seem tempermental, is it a bad buy. What would you suggest for a beginner piano that won’t cost me a lot of repairing down the line. The guy I am buying if from says he is a piano technician & says it sounds great. I don’t know whether to trust or not, or if I should just stay away from a spinet. Help!

Is Playing The Piano And Singing At The Same Time Really Hard?
I just would like to know really because I see & hear people saying that not alot of people can do it. But I can & I don’t think it’s really that hard.. I just would like to have some other people’s opinion.
I Am Inexperienced With Having Little Free Time, So: Does My Schedule Sound Too Demanding?
I am going to a university as a music major, these are the required classes, so I can’t take less than this.
8 AM – Piano
9 AM – Music Theory
10 AM – History of Music
11 AM – Choir
12 PM – US History
1 PM – Voice lessons
2-4 on Thursdays – Seminar
2-4 on other days – Rehearsal
And I also need a part time job with at least 30 hours per week to be able to afford living (rent, food, etc.) with a $100 a month food budget.
My professors say that I will be practicing 3 hours a night, excluding homework.
From 5-10, if I spend 3 hours practicing, & 2 for homework… When will I ever work?
I don’t demonstrate financial need because my parents make too much (and they refuse to co-sign for anything, or help me in any way because they’re sexist & think females are meant to be housewives) so any loans I get I have to repay immediately (and the max for unsubsidized stafford doesn’t cover tuition at all), but if I have no time to work then I couldn’t afford to pay my loans…
Will I have more time than I think?
I am quite scared.
How Do You Suggest I Organise My Time?
Monday I have school until 2p.m., then I have to go for my Japanese class from 2.30p.m. to 4.30p.m. I only get home at about 5.00p.m.
Tuesday I have school until 2.30p.m., then I have Judo as my extra-curricular activity from 3.00p.m. to 6.00p.m. I stay back in the dojo until about 7.30p.m. for extra training/practice.
Wednesday is pretty much like Monday, but after Japanese class I have to go for piano lessons from 5.00p.m. to 6.00p.m.
Thursdays are the same as Tuesdays, but after Judo, I have Chinese remedial from 7.00p.m. to 9.00p.m.
Fridays I just have school until 2.30p.m., with no extra activities.
Saturdays I have Judo for 2 hours, 10a.m. to 12p.m.
Sundays I have Math tuition from 9.30a.m. to 11.00a.m.
I’m really bad at planning my time, so can anyone suggest where my homework, revision, practice & leisure time should be arranged?
How To Keep Time Playing Piano?
Hi,
When playing piano, I feel like I play best when I have another instrument (drum machine or metronome), it clears my head & makes everything feel like its on autopilot.
But when I take away the drum machine or metronome, i either lose tempo or when I have to count, my head becomes too muddled & then I get too self conscious with my hands etc…
Anyone got any hints for me? Is it a matter of just practicing counting, until it becomes second nature & then it’ll unmuddled my head once that happens?
