Piano Answers

I saw this music video of this guy playing a piano or keyboard & than the toys come alive & move around. Can you give me the name of the song?

Sorry I don’t have much more detail, but it is a song with mainly a piano playing through out the whole song & it has no lyrics besides a man some what humming. It’s not like normal humming but he is making noise with his voice.

My piano is an Ivers & pond from the late 1880s.
I’ve been tinkering it & i’ve gotten somewhat good at making my own repairs to it.

The hammer butt flange.
The one’s in my piano are made of brass.
Some of them are loose, & some of them are just broken.
So these are my few questions.
It seems that these people would only make these out of brass because they didnt have stainless steel back then, am I right about that? or do they need to be made of brass?
Are mine only cracking because the brass pieces are old?
And also when I replace them, I either worry i’m not going to tighten them enough & then a week later they’ll be loose & i’ll have to go & take the action out. Or i’m worried that i’ll tighten them too much & they’ll crack.
That’s a lot of information but if you answer my question i’ll be very very thankful

I’ve been playing piano for 6 months & was wondering what skill level this song was. Rate it 1-9 as 9 being the hardest

my composition…
My composition is called, “Come Back”, it is an acoustic instrumental in the key of A minor & has a time signature of 4/4 but also moves into rubato or “free time”.
I recorded myself playing the piece on the acoustic guitar with no other instruments.
“Anji”, a song by David Graham has heavily influenced this piece.
David Graham was a British guitarist & one of the most influential figures in the 1960’s British folk revival. He inspired many famous practitioners of the finger style acoustic guitar, such as, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Martin Carthy, John Martyn, Paul Simon & Jimmy Page.
Graham is probably best-known for his acoustic instrumental, “Anji” which he wrote at the age of nineteen, & for his pioneering use of DADGAD tuning, which was later widely adopted by acoustic guitarists.
In the first section of my piece, the guitar strums through A minor chord, G note, F note and
E chord. This is repeated three times & the final time end with a broken chord sustained on E.
The second section of my composition is a fingerpick of the first part which is played twice in the time of 4/4 which keeps it in the same pace as the first section.
The third section of my composition is another fingerpick part which is a small stylized motif on the A minor chord, (which has a dynamic marking of piano) which highlights a technique known as a hammer on & pull off. This section is ended with a roll on the E chord which has a crescendo build up to forte.
The fourth section is a variation of the second section which is played twice, again in the time of 4/4.
The fifth section is a run on E Phrygian which reminds me of a Spanish flamenco dance piece in which rubato is used & shows great expression of intensity & suspense.
The rubato interpretation is used quite heavily throughout my piece, creating my own style of the flexible rhythm moving through the fusion of two different genres.
This follows with a short refrain on the E Phrygian, descending & continuing the same dynamic as the previous section.
The next two sections are exact repeats of sections two & three, this leads into another run on E Phrygian which is the same as section five.
The next section (eleven) introduces a new motif where there is use of double stops with an ascending semibreve movement. This kind of pattern would normally be played in a descending order but I chose to play the reverse as I thought it added to the Spanish (Phrygian) feel of the piece.
Keeping in line with my reversed motif, I decided to end my piece as it began, with the second section leading into the first & ending on a broken chord, sustained on A minor.

As I was growing up, I was always heavily applauded by my parents. My father has a physics PhD & was accepted into Yale University. Of course, high prestige goes along with superior grades, especially with Asian cultures. Teachers & doctors alike were tremendously impressed by my intelligence when I was younger, deeming me a child prodigy. When I was younger, I was always proficient at any activity I performed & was generally well-rounded. My concerns were never to compete on a narrow track, but to do things creatively & to seek a sense of identity.
As for my education, I was always learning things in short-term processes, & had little tolerance for things that took too much time. My childhood consisted of long rides to the City (NYC) & waiting on my parents during business trips bored to death. And because of huge financial difficulties, my parents work multiple jobs & have never been able to fund private lessons, tutors, or rides to outside activities. I was doomed to lack of opportunities & fell behind.
I honestly feel as though there is a gap in my parents’ memories, because they still regard me as always naturally being “the best.” I never took that compliment to heart, especially now, because I always understood that I was never completely developed in my skills, though agile at retaining information. Without any long-term skills, such as piano playing, swimming lessons, etc, I never thought it appropriate to deem myself the best or smartest by default. However, my parents did, & still treasure all the various awards I got from middle school & before. I can’t stand that my father brags about my President’s award from middle school, & that doesn’t help me a single bit now. Rather, him harping on that is detrimental to my self-esteem.
Now, I am 18 & a high school senior & bring this up with great concern, especially seeing that my biggest weakness has been my lack of extra curricular activities (as a result of difficulty accessing them, & not developing skills early on to join music or sports groups) & my mediocre grades (essentially, BS’d my way to first honors). Studying has been an incredibly difficult task for me because of the heavy commitment of time.
Usually the initial reaction people get from me is that I’m incredibly educated & well-rounded, which is funny to hear because my grades are sub-par. I spend most my time learning things outside of the curriculum. Hitting the books can literally cause me nausea. Mentors teaching me extraneous topics disappoints me, when the motive is to learn in order to brag & thus achieve superiority. Just the idea of forcing myself to learn induces opposition, & I find it hard to curb this habit. My ideal of academic delivery/presentation is mostly improvisational.
In social situations, I find it hard to take a compliment. The compliments about my personality I get are generally that I’m “mysterious” & “hard to read” if the speaker is just making initial impressions. Compliments on my looks I don’t take too well or pass over casually, if that helps. My friends are surprised that I’m not at the top of the class, but at the same time think I’m so reticent about grades because I’m not doing all that well. It is correct to an extent, but I actually am not too fond of using figures to judge someone’s intelligence.
It seems to me that throughout my childhood, I never thought I was justified as being the best, & only understood my great potential. “The cup is empty” & I am never completely satisfied with myself. I don’t think this would fall under categorizations of a simple “inferiority complex” knowing that the causes of my low self-esteem has ironically, been taking good compliments.
Has anyone ever even heard of anything similar? Thanks!

Throughout the whole movie the main characters names are never said, even in the credits they are something like him & her or guy & girl. They are both musicians, & very good ones at that. The whole movie they write & perform songs together, & obviously fall in love. But they don’t go any further with their relationship because she’s already married & has a daughter. More details about the movie: they meet when the girl needs to get her vacuum repaired (he runs a vacuum repair shop); he buys her a piano at the end of the movie so she can play at her house; they end up apart in the end.

Ok, so I have a friend & she is pianist but she is 12 years old. And her teacher told her about a high school teacher that really needs accompaniment for piano but she is afraid if its too much pressure, she can play pretty high level music but never took piano lessons, & yes there will be rehearsals.

i start learning how to play on piano when i was 14 but when i was 16 my mom died & i culdn’t keep playing on it …. but i really love the piano & i wanna resume learning … so is this a good age or it’s too late now ????

Great looking piano I don’t know much about pianos but I know this one was built around 1919 No industrial revolution product yet it was hand made specially made. No mass production. Great looking wood. Needs to be tuned one key sticks & another is repaired Looks like pure Ivory. Bench included I bought it to take lessons but never got to it so I have to let it go. I have always wanted to play piano & I can remember when I was little my Grandmother playing a turn on the piano..it did not sound to complicated & it had an almost up beat/ happy tone..I am pretty sure it is popular because I have heard it before…any ideas what it might be? Is it a lot of reverb or an out of tune piano? Or is it a specific kind of piano?
