my composition…
My composition is called, “Come Back”, it is an acoustic instrumental in the key of A minor & has a time signature of 4/4 but also moves into rubato or “free time”.
I recorded myself playing the piece on the acoustic guitar with no other instruments.
“Anji”, a song by David Graham has heavily influenced this piece.
David Graham was a British guitarist & one of the most influential figures in the 1960’s British folk revival. He inspired many famous practitioners of the finger style acoustic guitar, such as, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Martin Carthy, John Martyn, Paul Simon & Jimmy Page.
Graham is probably best-known for his acoustic instrumental, “Anji” which he wrote at the age of nineteen, & for his pioneering use of DADGAD tuning, which was later widely adopted by acoustic guitarists.
In the first section of my piece, the guitar strums through A minor chord, G note, F note and
E chord. This is repeated three times & the final time end with a broken chord sustained on E.
The second section of my composition is a fingerpick of the first part which is played twice in the time of 4/4 which keeps it in the same pace as the first section.
The third section of my composition is another fingerpick part which is a small stylized motif on the A minor chord, (which has a dynamic marking of piano) which highlights a technique known as a hammer on & pull off. This section is ended with a roll on the E chord which has a crescendo build up to forte.
The fourth section is a variation of the second section which is played twice, again in the time of 4/4.
The fifth section is a run on E Phrygian which reminds me of a Spanish flamenco dance piece in which rubato is used & shows great expression of intensity & suspense.
The rubato interpretation is used quite heavily throughout my piece, creating my own style of the flexible rhythm moving through the fusion of two different genres.
This follows with a short refrain on the E Phrygian, descending & continuing the same dynamic as the previous section.
The next two sections are exact repeats of sections two & three, this leads into another run on E Phrygian which is the same as section five.
The next section (eleven) introduces a new motif where there is use of double stops with an ascending semibreve movement. This kind of pattern would normally be played in a descending order but I chose to play the reverse as I thought it added to the Spanish (Phrygian) feel of the piece.
Keeping in line with my reversed motif, I decided to end my piece as it began, with the second section leading into the first & ending on a broken chord, sustained on A minor.

In a school meeting for the Senior teachers, my name was singled out for bad performance. It was a meeting for senior teachers, which meant that junior teachers like me need not attend. One of the senior teachers wrote a report for that meeting that says…. All the New Substitute Teacher’s Performance were satisfactory , except for me.What does that say about the person who wrote the report about me, behind my back- singling me out in front of everyone ?
How do you think I am suppose to react with this stupid teacher smearing my name & giving me a bad reputation infront of everyone?
She had just costed me my job & kicked my rice bowl. I needed that teaching job very badly to pay for my college tuition fees.
I thought that Performance Review Report was supposed to be confidential.
The thing that upsets me was, I honestly thought I was doing a good job & giving my best.
To put things in perspective, I was unable to control the last class. Not because I did not want to, but simply because I was afraid the pressure would get to me & I did not want that. My mother suffers from high blood pressure as a result from continuosly scolding & yelling at the maid. She advised me not to yell & scold the students & scream at them at the top of my lungs, until it affects your health.
But yet, I noticed that most of the time this is the only way a teacher can get the attention of her students & control the class- by Yelling & shouting & screaming at them.
I only had problems with that 1 class. A few months after that they took that class out of my schedule when they revised the whole school’s timetable due to a lack of teachers. When they took that class out of my schedule I honestly felt a relief, & I thought , ” Good, now I can focus more on my teaching, instead of wasting time scolding the problematic students,”.
But I didnt realise that stupid teacher had taken that into account & written such a bad report about me that it costed me my job.
She did not even talk to me about it or asked me how I was doing.
I was not informed anything about it.
In fact I found out about the report by accident.
And now it just costed me my job.
True, I wanted to transfer out to a school that did not had such a high stress level, but not like this.
The strange thing was, the school is a good school with high academic expectations, & the students all did their homework. It was a Girls School, which means there is no discipline problems involving the boys.
As I was studying part-time & teaching part time, I did not had the time to sit around & gossip with the other teachers in the staff cafeteria.
So did I just lost my job because I did not socialise or participate in their daily gossip ?
What do you think ?
I felt that I had to do what I did, because of my studies.I teach in a school & study piano part time, so I had to conserve my time & energy.I work 8 hours & come home & practice another 5 hours. Because its practice, its not like biology or chemistry where you can cram last minute study or burn the midnight oil.
As one of my friends put it, there is so much competition & back stabbing & politics & gossip there.)
My friend got the job offer (it was a contract renewal but requested for a transfer to another school.
What do you think?
Will I be able to get another teaching job ?

What things happen in the brain the day someone masters reading music & piano that will happen everyday & every time they sit at the piano & prepare to read music & play the piano that will allow them to play song after song after song with no mistakes.

I know music; I play three musical instruments, but not guitar. I want to tune my mum’s old guitar to my piano, but I don’t know what the guitar strings are meant to be tuned to (like, what are the string’s open notes)?

And how much would it cost?

I really like the song, but I don’t know if it will be too easy or too hard.

I’m an advanced piano player & I would want to play something to impress my audience, so can someone suggest some piano music? It can be classical, popular, etc. music. Thank you!

”well, in store front church when wet ceiling fell on me.the pastor said ,they’ve complained many times for 2yrs ) management co never fixed the pluming problem . the pastor even showed repair files ,& request & the church paid for the tile. the neglience of the management co.caused this .now iam hurt bad. the pastor said we just rent this store front however iam a piano playerat this church & have notice this problem, iam the injured one, i take 6wks of therapy for head aches,neck&backpain.plus lost wages.out of work 1mth now. i have a lawyer do . iam very mad.” & i want my my prize$.

Hi, I’m trying to find some music to practice on the piano, instead of simply playing standards.
I know you can’t find tabs for piano like you can for guitar, but can anyone tell me where something like a database of sheet music, or something, is?

I just got my first job but I want to make a little extra cash doing something that I actually like.

I have a Schubert cabinet grand piano & I have very little information on the piano & it’s making. I would appreciate it if someone could either tell me where to find information about the piano or if they know, give me what information they have. I’m looking into getting it repaired & tuned as it has been neglected by it’s previous owners, & I would like to find out anything I can about the piano before I get this done.

What activity happens in the brain of someone who has just mastered reading music & playing the piano?

I have this piano for quite a while. It is an upright that my aunt got at a garage sale. She then gave it to my sister & i who both took lessons briefly. Its been sitting around my house for quite a while & i just started playing it again for enjoyment.
The keys stick, strings need to be tuned, & some of the pedals dont function properly. Is there a reasonable estimate for the listed repairs.
