What Piano Music Should I Invest In?

I’m going to college, & I need to know what piano music I can get while I can still get it cheap from the local music store. I have WTC Book I, Complete Beethoven Sonatas, Complete Chopin Etudes & Scherzi, Liszt Concert Etudes, Schumann’s Fantasiestueck, & all the Rachmaninoff Preludes, along with other random stuff. What would be a good investment before college?

Should I Stop Playing Piano?

I’m natural at playing the piano. I can hear any song by ear & play it on the piano. But the problem is I absolutely HATE it!! My parents however are making me play the piano. What should I do, I have natural talent in piano & that’s why they are making me play it!!

What Questions Should I Ask When Inquiring About A Second Hand Piano?

I’m currently piano hunting & want to buy a second hand upright piano. Despite the obvious questions- when was the last time it was tuned & is there any hidden damage; are there any relevant & potentially vital questions which i could ask?
Also, do you think that it would be ok to base the piano in a conservatory? The temperature varies a little in there from the main house (around 2-3 degrees hotter or colder in summer/winter) Could this have a profound impact on the working/ tuning aspects of the piano?
Many thanks!!

I Want To Record Myself Playing The Piano..what Should I Use?

OK, so I want to record myself playing piano & have been looking at recording equipment on the internet & have to admit I’m slightly baffled by all the different recording things. I want something really simple to use that I can easily put on the computer & it has to be quite cheap, but of course the sound to be good. Any ideas about what I should use?

Should I Get My A+ Certification?

12 years ago, I took a course & received a certificate as a Microcomputer Support Network Repair Technician. The course was really preparation for taking the A+ certification exam. I decided to go to work instead of continuing my studies. I then got very sick with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & couldn’t work, exercise or study at all. Now I am feeling better, & would like to know if there is any financial benefit to going after my A+ certification. I also have a B.A. in Music – skills in piano I never used except for accompanying for very little money & a short stint teaching piano. The tech climate was different 12 years ago – it was very hot. Now they have outsourced many of the tech jobs. But I have to do something. Let me know what you think. Thanks in advance

How Fast Should I Be Playing Piano?

I kinda know how to read sheet music, I know all the notes & everything anyway. What I have trouble with is the speed at which I play. How do I know how fast to play a song? I know it gives the 4/4 or 4/3 or whatever number is at the beginning of the sheet, but I don’t really know how to put that into a speed.
If anyone could help me out that would be great thanks!

Should I Get My Baby Grand Piano Tuned?

I haven’t gotten my piano tuned in a while. It’s starting to sound kind of bad. Also, I’ve dropped some pencils in it. Is it necessary to get your piano tuned (prevent broken strings or something) or is it okay to just leave it like it is? Also, how do I get the pencils out if their trapped behind the cover that goes over the keys? Also, how much does it usually cost to get a baby grand tuned?

My Housemate Broke My Electronic Piano Keyboard. Should I Ask Him To Replace It?

Today after winter break a housemate of mine at my college apartment came into my room & started playing on my piano keyboard without asking. I recently brought the keyboard from my house so my girlfriend could practice more. She has been playing it for three weeks without any problems, but when my housemate came in, it shut off, there was a burning smell, & it hasn’t turned on since. I got the keyboard in October of 2003, so it isn’t new, but it was working perfectly until he used it (without asking). I couldn’t see what he was doing with it because I was turned around, so I have no way of knowing what happened.
This housemate is a nice guy usually, & I’ve known him for about a year. He has helped me with computer issues from time-to-time, & I have helped him with various things as well.
My question is, should I ask him to repair/replace my keyboard? He hasn’t offered yet, & I don’t really have the money to go out & buy a new one for $200-$300 like this one cost originally.

Should I Buy A Piano For 350$ If It Has One “stuck” Key?

It’s a key that is on the very far left, so I don’t think I’ll be using it too much. ;-) Seriously, I’m obviously a beginner, & I just want a somewhat decent first piano that’s cheap. The rest of the keys sounded just fine. Also, if I were to have this key repaired, how much do you think it might cost? Thanks in advance for your response.

I Want To Start Playing Piano Again, What Should I Do?

I use play pretty good when I was in high school, I took classes every year. The other day (10 years later) I tried playing some songs but could not remember a thing.
I thought about taking lessons but decided not to because I still know the theory very well, it would be just practise.
What I would like to know is, does anyone recommend anything to start with? Should I royal conservatory type music? Any help would be great, with possible links to web sites.
Thank You

Is there any way I can stop this & play the piano infront of my teacher without making stupid mistakes?

Should A University, And Their Advisors, Be More Open To A Student About The Prospects Of Their Majors?

What I mean is that say for example the student is going to go into a major like Music Appreciation – Piano (of which I knew someone who graduated with such a degree), & this is going to be a major that’s going to take at least 4 years to complete with a tuition bill of like $30,000+, only to have the student face a very limiting career that may only pay a small salary. Shouldn’t the school, & its advisors, be ethically responsible to mention these probable career facts to the student up front so that this knowledge doesn’t just suddenly hit the student when they graduate?
And not just this major but any other major that may seem impractical & more difficult to find jobs in.
And for the record that friend of mine is still having a tough time right now finding a job with her degree, & is thinking about going back to school for nursing. Hence the reason for this inquiry. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
