Piano Answers

I played the piano from 7 until 12, & my wpm is very good(I’m 14), & I’ve never taken typing lessons. Its just a thought that came to me as a I was going to bed last night.

I love both instruments very much & I want to be able to play both. Been playing piano for 8 years & guitar for 3. Is it True that guitar wrecks the ability to play piano?

I’m filling out a scholarship & it asked me what extracuricullum activities & organizations i participate in. Does this count? i sing & play every service three times a week.

I’ve been playing piano for a very long time now, but I never really bothered to have mine tuned. Now it sounds ancient.

When piano accompany violin, pianist gives an A for violin to tune. Does pianist need to do that for flute too? If so, which note? Bflat?

I’ve seen alot of guitar tabs for them but no piano music. I know for a fact they use alot of piano/keyboard in their songs.

i’ve bein looking around for prices & estimates on how much it will cost to have a piano tuned. & i was jsut wondering whats the avrage cost for it, because i dont want to overcharged or ripped off!

Fees for piano tuning and/or maintenance are not regulated by statute. You can sensibly compare piano tuning fees with those in other industry where a visit to the client’s premises is involved. The Piano Tuners’ Association has ‘recommended minimum fees’ that vary according to area. Piano tuners, like members of any other profession, will vary in their abilities, experience, & knowledge. Piano tuning is an art requiring training, experience & considerable talent. As with any other service of this nature, clients can reasonably expect to pay more for the benefit of a high level of skill & knowledge.
In my experience £30 is reasonable to suggest. You may find the below link helpful.

Ive currently only being playing for 3 years or so, improvisation stuff like that no notes. I really been depressed most of my life & tryd to explain certain areas of my life with music. I love music alot listen to it hours & hours at a time & try learning from other songs. Playing any instrument takes practice. Your body needs to get used to the new motions you are asking it to do. And you need to make the connections between your eyes (reading the music), ears (hearing it) & body.
Unless you are a prodigy, it will take quite a bit of time to get everything working together. A good teacher will make it fun, not tedious.

I know the answer is “it depends”. But sometimes my piano tuner takes 3 hours! This is for a 5-year old, 125cm (49″) upright, with nice agraffes–which I understand should make tensioning the strings a breeze.
This is the only tuner I’ve ever worked with so I don’t know how to compare with others. I think I’ve read in someone’s memoir (either Piano Shop on the Left Bank or Noah Adam’s Piano Book) that that a good tuner should take just an hour.

Jean Sibelius: “Valse Triste”.
Fryderk(Fredrick) Chopin: check his “Preludes”; some are very mournful – “eerie”? Don’t know about that.
Sergei Prokofiev: “Cinderella” ballet; there are piano transcriptions of it.
Alexander Scriabin: “Etudes”; there are tons of them on You Tube(for piano): some so eerie & scary, they may frighten you: no “kidding”.
