How Do I Know That My Piano Needs To Be Tuned?

i’ve just started playing again after about 7 years. I believe we bought my Yamaha upright piano about.. 10years ago. I’ve noticed that starting from the keys around the middle C to the left side of the piano, the sound doesnt linger when you take your hands off the keys. probably needs to be tuned?
how often are you supposed to tune your piano? & how much is the price range in the denver area?

If it’s been 7 years, then it is definitely time to tune your piano. It should be tuned every 6 months, usually during the fall & spring due to humidity & temperature changes, but you may want to ask this to the piano tuner to be absolutely sure. As for prices, I don’t know about the Denver area specifically, but prices generally range anywhere from $75 to $150. Of course, if repairs are needed it will cost more, but that’s the average base price.

It all depends on how often you play the piano. Tune the piano once a year for moderate use. I am betting that your piano definitely needs a tuning after 7 years, even with inactivity.
Tuning should cost less that 200 dollars. Although you can buy kits online, I recommend having a professional do it.
