Is 20 Years Of Age Too Old To Start Playing The Piano.?

I would really love to play the piano. But worried about my age, also getting a teacher to help me. Is 20 years of age too old, I also have a piano at home, which is a plus.

most piano teachers would love a more mature student who will put in the effort & do the work they set them!

No you are never too old to do something new, people in their 80s go to uni & do degrees so at 20 you are not too old for anything!

No definitely not, but unless you’re a mathematical genius its probably too late to learn to play like Beethoven or Liszt etc.

You are definitely not too old. I have mastered several musical instruments since my 20s. At least well enough for my own satisfaction. The piano is actually relatively easy to play.

Never to old to do anything if its what you want. I’m sure any piano teacher would have no problem teaching you.Whether you will be any good or not now thats another question. Just think tho you could be fabulous & you will never know unless you try.

No way are you too old…. I passed three exams when I was a young child & almost forgot everything I had learnt….I have just retired..bought myself a beautiful piano & now learning all over again..
Go for it if it makes you feel happy, there is no age limit…

You’re never too old! If you want to do it then do =) Teachers will take any ages, don’t worry. If you feel unsure about it or whatever, you could always get a friend & have a joint lesson? Would be a shame to have a piano & not use it, especially if you’d really like to play it.

I started at 35 & have been playing for 2 years now & can’t believe how far I have come.
I self taught myself & can nigh on play Beethoven’s Fur Elise perfectly, Bach’s Prelude, Moonlight Sonata, Mika’s Happy Ending, Evenescence My Immortal & many more ……..
Go for it & don’t delay. I practice about an hour a day, but persevere, really you’ll be surprised how well you do after a few months

no definitely not, if anything you’ll be starting young, just because most piano players seem to be around the lower teens doesn’t make you too old to start, besides you got your entire life infront of you so you got plenty of time to progress through & make it to the higher grades. I’m in grade 2 myself, been playing it now for about 3 years, its great if you have a passion for it. I’m 15 but i can tell you that age has nothing to do with it Actually, if anything, those who start playing at your age are the ones who end up playing throughout their lifetime while the ones who play at my age tend to let it go & forget about it after they start college/university.
