Of course you should give it your all! Even if you were to (god forbid) not pass the exams, you would have the joy of playing piano with you. I started playing when I was in 2nd grade, & I’m still not very good… but my sister started at the same time, & she can pretty much play a song perfectly the first time she tries it! It depends so much upon how much time you put into it (I quit taking lessons… har har har).
I suggest finding a piano teacher with a good reputation, & make SURE it’s someone you get along with! A good first impression & friendly relations will really help you learn more from him/her in a shorter amount of time.
Good luck! You can do it! :D

Yes! But you have to be really dedicated. Your musical background with guitar will help a lot. Piano & guitar are the best instruments on which to learn muscal theory (in my opinion). You have to practice daily (you know that, if you play guitar), & you have to stick with it even when you get frustrated. But if you love it, you can do it.

Yes you should most definitely start. If one sets their mind to something they can achieve anything. I know this sounds cheesy but it really is true. You must be completely dedicated to your instrument. That might mean staying in on the weekends practicing instead of hanging out with your friends, studying theory late into the night & being tired at school the next day, & perfecting your posture when you could be going on a date with your boyfriend. Without complete & total dedication you will not be able to accomplish your goal. I wish you the best & would like to encourage you to pursue this amazing dream. In time you will be able to turn it into a reality.

Every journey begins with the first step — you can’t answer those questions for yourself until you try. It’s my experience that the more you want something, & the more you’re willing to work to get it, the more chance you’ll have of achieving it.
Give it a shot, & I bet you can. :)

Of course you can. I didn’t start playing piano until I got to college, wish I had started when I was fifteen. The most important thing is to practice every day, & practice well. It is better to practice for 1/2 an hour of good, focused practice than to keep going for an hour or two of playing the same mistakes over & over again. Find a good teacher. Research what you have to do specifally for the LCM & RA exams & make sure your teacher is preparing you in that direction.
    Go for it!!!!!

My 92 year old uncle gets up every morning in the spring & goes outside to till the soil & plant seeds that will become fruits & vegetables. He has learned to be a master gardener after working in a gas station for over 50 years. If he can learn to be a master gardener at 92, surely you have more than enough time to learn to master the piano.
If you want it more than anything, & are willing to sacrifice, & practice, you will make it. Best of luck to you. I look forward to listening to your music down the line.
