Okay, I’m guessing by classical you mean all classical/baroque/romantic pieces. Sorry if you don’t.

Now, Rachmaninoff is MOST technically a little more modern, but most people consider him under the umbrella of ‘classical’ music (not the period, but the genre).

Again, not all technically fall into strict period of ‘classical’. (I only say this b/c some people are really nitpicky.

Here is a great website that lists all the major composers from each era. If you click on their name, it has stars next to their most famous works. If you search in Youtube, you can find many performances of these works.http://www.classical.net/music/rep/lists…
Generally, the Classical & Romantic Eras are most accessible & is how people first fall in love with classical music.
There are online classical radio stations. When you hear something you like, check the playlist & write down the name of the composer & piece & the performer. That way you can download the exact same performance. There are often thousands of classical recordings of famous pieces & many of them are simply mediocre. You should always take note of recordings of “legendary performances.” Many local libraries have CD’s that you can check out to listen to. Explore & have fun. Delve deeper into what you like.
If it’s piano you are most interested in, start with Chopin. Chopin has made more people fall in love with the piano than any other composer. It was Chopin that first drove me to classical music at the age of 20. It was this piece, “The Fantasy Impromptu”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qa0Z6g1XJ…

I love Philip Glass, he composed the soundtrack to the Illusionist & also did some stuff with The Kronos Quartet [check them out too!].
Michiru Oshima composed all the music in Fullmetal Alchemist, which a majority of is classical.
Or of course, you can always go to the originals like Mozart & Beethoven.
O Fortuna by Mozart is one of my faves. So epic.

It depends on what your level of playing is at.
J.S. Bach is a pretty good place to start. He has a wide range of pieces for many levels of difficulty.
BTW, O Fortuna is written by Carl Orff not Mozart.
